Organizational structure of the Paul-Drude-Institute for Solid State Electronics inside the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V.
The Director
Prof. Dr. Henning Riechert is director of the Paul-Drude Institute since late 2007.
The Departments
The institute is organized in four departments. This organizational structure represents the area of competence of the PDI staff and the corresponding allocation of research ressources:
The Core Research Areas
Research is carried out in interdisciplinary core research areas, in which scientists, engineers, and technicians of all departments collaborate for a certain period.
At present, the six core research areas of the PDI are:
- Ferromagnet-Semiconductor Hybrid Structures
- Control of Elementary Excitations by Acoustic Fields
- III-V Nanowires for Optoelectronics
- Intersubband Emitters: GaAs-based Quantum-Cascade-Lasers
- Nanoanalytics
- Nanofabrication
The Scientific Advisory Board
According to the institute's bylaws, the scientific advisory board advises the director in all scientific matters, comments annually on the research activites of the institute and discusses the scientific strategy.
