In collaboration with Leibniz ScienceCampus GraFOx at Paul-Drude-Institut für Festkörperelektronik (PDI), artist Sadie Weis will approach the curious dialogue between scientific research and artistic investigation through the shared sense of wonder and quest for knowledge both subjects hold as well as their social responsibility in the public sphere.
This process-based exchange will be inspired by the artist's laboratory observations of Epitaxial research and experimentation done by PDI scientists and culminate in a visual holographic installation to be viewed inside the Motorenprüfstand at Humboldt University's Adlershof Campus (November 1–10, 2018 from 16:00–20:00). Accompanying work on the project will be exhibited at the Erwin-Schrödinger-Center and Paul-Drude-Institut für Festkörperelektronik. The artist will present the progress of her work at PDI on November 10, 2018 at 14:00 followed by a debate on similarities and differences of the scientific and artistic approaches to understanding the world (The Dialog).
