Nanowires 2012
This is the fifth edition of the successful series of annual workshops on the physics, chemistry and applications of nanowires. The series started in 2008, and workshops have already been held in Lyon (France), Lausanne (Switzerland), Crete (Greece), and Lesvos (Greece).
This year the workshop took place at the Paul-Drude-Institut für Festkörperelektronik in downtown Berlin, Germany, 19-21 September 2012.
What makes this workshop series stand out is the spirit and the informal exchange of ideas between people who typically would not meet on a personal level at a larger conference. At the same time, the scope is sufficiently narrow to make all presentations interesting for all participants.
There was a total of 30–40 talks and a poster session. The core of the workshop are the invited talks but it is open to all. In order to maintain the spirit of the workshop, participation is limited to 60 people.
