Science Facade

With the Science Facade, the PDI wants to inspire curiosity for scientific work through an artistic perception of research from the institute. Topics of High-Technology are infused into the cultural environment of central Berlin.

At the opening of PDI's Science Facade, more than 150 people gathered to follow the official "lights-on" of the institute's new digital installation on Taubenstraße. After greetings and welcoming words from Dr. J. Koch-Unterseher (Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Research), C. Neumann (General Secretary of Leibniz-Association) and Dr. M. Urban (Managing Director of Forschungsverbund Berlin), the Director of PDI, Prof. Dr. H. Riechert, introduced the the project and its background. Dr. C. Hucho, Head of Department Technology and Transfer at PDI, and Codec from the executing design agency PFADFINDEREI spoke about the connection between science and art and how both can work together for mutual benefit. At 18:00, the installation was switched on for the first time publicly. Electronic music from Gütezeichen, drinks and finger-food rounded off the pleasant evening.
