Group-III-arsenides

Reflectivity measured in situ during growth of a microcavity structure

These alloys are well-known semiconductors, which can be used to produce heterostructures of highest structural and optical quality. Accordingly, for many device applications and basic research experiments they are still the first choice. Within the core research area Nanofabrication, our activities on group-III-arsenides focus on the study of

 

  • fundamental growth mechanisms on GaAs substrates of various orientations and miscuts
  • adatom migration during growth on patterned substrates or epitaxial templates
  • the development of in-situ control tools, in particular continuous measurements of the spectral reflectivity, to fabricate thick and complex heterostructures with highest precision even for prolonged growth times of more than 24 h.

 

The resulting growth expertise mainly serves as the basis for the fabrication of tailored structures in the core research areas Control of Elementary Excitations by Acoustic Fields and Intersubband emitters. In addition, we provide samples for various internal and external collaborators.
