At the ScienceCampus meeting we were pleased to welcome the President of the Leibniz Association, Professor Matthias Kleiner, and took the chance to inspire him with our exciting work around semiconducting oxides.
Through a personal exchange with the doctoral candidates and leading scientists of all partner institutions in Berlin as well as a guided tour through the participating laboratories of the Humboldt University in Berlin and the Leibniz Institute for Crystal Growth, Professor Kleiner was able to gain an impressive picture of cutting-edge research on oxide semiconductors.
With the support of the ScienceCampus GraFOx, the Leibniz Association sets clear accents for the fundamental research of semiconducting oxides, which are particularly well suited for the development of novel opto-/ electronic components and energy applications with outstanding performance. They are already used in data storage and show great potential for the realization of high-voltage transistors, e.g. for electric vehicles.
The Leibniz ScienceCampus GraFOx has been up and running since July 2016. It is coordinated by the Paul-Drude Institute für Festkörperelektronik (PDI), a Leibniz Institute within the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. Other partners include the Leibniz Institute for Crystal Growth (IKZ), the Fritz Haber Institute (FHI) of the Max Planck Society, the Humboldt University of Berlin and the Technical University of Berlin.
