1982-1986   PhD work at the “Institut für Festkörperforschung”, Jülich,
Topic: Optical Pumping and Spin polarisation phenomena in the photoemission of electrons from GaAs photocathodes, Advisor Prof. M.C. Campagna

1985        8 months at Ecole Polytechnique, Palaiseau, France
1986        Obtained PhD in physics (Dr. rer.nat.) from Köln University
1986        Entered Siemens AG, Corporate Research and Development
1987 -      Responsible for setting up and equipping molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) lab, subsequently for the operation of solid source MBE activities under various device programs (III-V electronics and optoelectronics)

1994 -      Project manager of the MBE group

subsequently several projects on devices based on group-III nitrides and dilute nitrides, main results:
first InGaN-LED in Europe (1996),
first monolithically grown 1.3µm VCSEL (2001)

1996        4 months as a guest researcher at Stanford University
1999        Transfer from Siemens to Infineon Technologies, Corporate Research
2001        Department head for Photonics
2005        Technical Manager for Nanomaterial Topics
2006        Senior Principal Scientist for Materials Science at Qimonda AG,
2007        since Nov 1st, director of Paul-Drude-Institute


Married to Sibylle Henkel-Riechert, one daughter.

 

More than 100 publications in refereed journals, 2 book chapters, more than 20 invited talks at conferences, more than 8 patents
