PDI freut sich, wieder am Girls Day teilzunehmen und lädt Mädchen zwischen 12 und 16 Jahren ein, für einen Tag zur Materialwissenschaftlerin zu werden!

For Berlin Science Week 2023, PDI presents an evening on phase transitions in matter, mind and society. This is the night for everyone who loves to cross borders and open the mind. Enjoy sharp-witted debates about arts, natural sciences and political systems between provocative thinkers in their field. A night you will not forget – let’s talk!

Artist Roland Boden creates a site-specific video work to mark the relaunch of the PDI Science Façade, coinciding with Berlin Science Week 2023. Throughout the week, Boden's virtual science visualization of Order and Disorder will engulf the ground floor of Mitte's nano technology research institute. The exhibition opens at PDI on 1st November, with an artist talk and introduction to the project taking place on 5th November in Prenzlauer Berg.

In order to explain science to the youngest audiences, PDI participates for the second time in the Maus Türöffner Tag organized by the educational children's TV series Sendung mit der Maus. We open the doors of our analytical scanning electron microscopy lab and present the 'smallest mouse' created by our clean-room facilities.

Celebrating 30 years of collaboration within Forschungsverbund Berlin. In a day of stunning science, the wildly diverse research topics, scientific approaches, and leadership culture of IGB, IKZ, PDI, WIAS, IZW, MBI, and FMP were presented in formats such as elevator pitches, scientific crosstalk and PowerPoint Karaoke. The evening was wrapped up with a concert by New York-born actress and Americana Noir singer, Saudia Young.

My science blows you out of the water! Friedrich Liechtenstein presents a game show for Berlin Science Week 2021 in which three institutes present engaging (and somewhat unusual) clips about their research to a live audience. Organised by the Paul Drude Institute.

An encounter with science: Live experiments in underground stations - a collaboration with the Greek science communication organization SciCo during Berlin Science Week 2019

Sadie Weis approaches the curious dialogue between scientific research and artistic investigation through the shared sense of wonder and quest for knowledge both subjects hold. In Weis's multi-media creations, she simulates future-world-making through channels of fantastical science and crystal growth experimentation, often pairing scientific reality with imagination. Over a period of seven weeks, Weis has observed scientists at Paul-Drude-Institut working on the synthesis and physical characterization of crystals beyond those developed by nature.

The first edition of STATE Festival, STATE OF TIME, brought together over 1200 international scientists, artists and cultural dwellers for four days in October 2014 to Berlin to celebrate scientific ideas and artistic expression.

With the science façade, PDI wants to inspire curiosity for science and research through artistic perceptions of selected scientific topics. In a central location at Hausvogteiplatz, right next to Gendarmenmarkt and the famous Konzerthaus, topics of high technology are infused into the cultural environment of central Berlin.
