Hans Tornatzky received his PhD in Physics from TU Berlin in 2019, where he investigated phononic and excitonic properties of two-dimensional semiconductors such as MoS₂. He subsequently held postdoctoral positions at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg and INSA Toulouse, specializing in magneto-optical spectroscopy.
His current research focuses on 2D heterostructures and ultra-wide bandgap oxide materials, with particular expertise in Raman and photoluminescence (excitation) spectroscopy.
He is involved in the DFG Priority Programme SPP2244 2D Materials – Physics of van der Waals [hetero]structures and the Leibniz Collaborative Excellence initiative SiGOPE, which explores (Si, Ge, Sn)O₂-based ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors for power electronics.
