Phuong earned his Ph.D. from Osaka University, Japan, where he specialized in the coherent cooperative radiation of excitons and biexcitons confined in high-quality semiconductor thin films and quantum dots. He then held a prestigious JSPS Fellowship at Kyoto University, investigating emerging photovoltaic materials including perovskites and chalcopyrites, before completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Potsdam. There, he developed advanced spectroscopy systems to probe excited-state processes in organic solar cells. Most recently, as a Senior Scientist at Heliatek GmbH, he spearheaded the R&D program for perovskite-based photovoltaics and led the process optimization of organic PV modules for large-scale commercialization.
