Diversity Day 2026 Talk: The Impact of DEI on Scientific Research and Career Development

"Wenn Vielfalt gewinnt, gewinnen alle" — "When diversity wins, everyone wins."

This is the motto of German Diversity Day 2026, and it's a principle PDI Berlin is proud to put into practice. To mark the occasion, we warmly invite everyone to a special talk: "The Impact of DEI on Scientific Research and Career Development" by Dr. Yulia Kozyrakis, Organisational Consultant, factor-D Diversity Consulting Germany GmbH.

This lecture examines how diversity, equity, and inclusion shape scientific research environments, not as a box-ticking exercise, but as a driver of research quality, innovation, and career development. Drawing on evidence from highly specialized fields, Dr. Kozyrakis explores the interplay between unconscious bias and structural barriers, and how these affect scientific output, grant success, and talent retention.

The session is designed for a broad audience: those new to DEI, those approaching it with scepticism, and those already well-informed. The goal is to move beyond echo chambers and examine critically how challenging established routines builds more resilient and innovative research teams.

The 45-minute lecture will be followed by a 15-minute open Q&A.
