Following an initiative by the Equal Opportunity Officers across the Forschungsverbund Berlin (FVB), all FVB institutes now appoint an Equal Opportunity Representative within their Scientific Advisory Boards (SAB). This role ensures that equality, diversity, and family-friendliness are actively considered in all SAB discussions and decisions, helping to make evaluation and advisory processes fair and transparent.
During PDI's annual SAB Meeting in September 2025, Professor Jeremy Levy accepted this important role for PDI. As Equal Opportunity Representative, he will work closely with PDI’s Equal Opportunity Officer, Eimear Bruen, to integrate equality considerations into strategic and personnel discussions within the SAB.
This step reinforces PDI’s ongoing commitment to fostering a fair, inclusive, and family-friendly research environment.
The Forschungsverbund Berlin (FVB) is one of Berlin’s largest non-university research organizations, comprising seven institutes conducting cutting-edge research in the natural, engineering, life, and environmental sciences. As members of the Leibniz Association, these institutes are jointly funded by the German federation and the federal states. FVB provides its institutes with a joint administrative structure, fostering synergies in governance and creating a platform for academic exchange.
