Research Groups
At PDI, our research groups explore cutting-edge topics in semiconductor physics, quantum materials, and computational modeling. Each group is independently led by a PDI research fellow, fostering a dynamic environment that encourages innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. By working closely with partner institutes, our groups benefit from a broad range of expertise, allowing them to address complex scientific challenges from multiple perspectives.
Our current research groups include:
- Heterostructure Semiconductor Physics Group – Investigating the fundamental properties of semiconductor heterostructures and their applications in advanced electronic and photonic devices.
- PHARAO Junior Research Group – Exploring epitaxial growth modes, interface structures, and phase transitions, particularly in highly dissimilar material systems, with a focus on high-precision molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) at the synchrotron.
- Computational Materials Science Group – Using advanced computational techniques to model and predict material properties, bridging the gap between theory and experiment.
