PDI at Photonics Days 2026: Sessions on Analytical Electron Microscopy & PDI Lab Tour
PDI at Photonics Days 2026
PDI is pleased to take part in Photonics Days again this year, with two sessions and a guided tour of PDI. Registration is required through the Photonics Days website. Please note that students can register for free.
1. Session: Analytical Electron Microscopy for Photonics I & II
Wednesday, 7 October, 10:00–12:00 & 14:00–18:00 | Curie-Cabinet, WISTA Event Center
PDI is organizing a two-part session titled "Analytical Electron Microscopy for Photonics," chaired by PDI's Jonas Lähnemann and co-chaired by Kagiso Loeto, with talks by PDI's Karl Graser and Domenik Spallek. The session brings together experts in electron beam techniques, including CL, SEM, STEM, TEM, EELS, and PINEM, to present their latest applications, discuss scientific results, and evaluate recent developments in measurement systems, offering the broader community insight into what these microscopy techniques can reveal.

2. Guided Lab Tour at PDI
Friday, 9 October, 10:00–12:00 | PDI, Berlin
As part of Photonics Travel Days, PDI will host a guided tour of the institute. Visitors will get an overview of PDI's research activities and visit several labs, including the large molecular beam epitaxy facility, the new Application Laboratory for Time-resolved Cathodoluminescence Spectroscopy (ZALKAL), and the terahertz quantum cascade laser (QCL) lab.
Spots are limited, please register in advance, and let the organizers know if you're unable to attend, as significant planning goes into the tour.
