PDI is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Jeremy Levy to its Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Levy is a Distinguished Professor of Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Pittsburgh and the Founding Director of the Pittsburgh Quantum Institute. His research interests center around the emerging field of oxide nanoelectronics, experimental and theoretical realizations for quantum computation, semiconductor and oxide spintronics, quantum transport and nanoscale optics, and dynamical phenomena in oxide materials and films. He is a Class of 2015 Vannevar Bush Faculty Fellow, a Fellow of the APS and AAAS, a recipient of the 2008 Nano50 Innovator Award, and the NSF Career Award. He has received the University of Pittsburgh’s Chancellor’s Distinguished awards for research (2004, 2011) and teaching (2007).

PDI's Scientific Advisory Board supports the institute by offering advice on scientific matters, discussing its scientific strategy, and conducting an annual evaluation of its research activities. The board is led by Prof. Dr. Dagmar Gerthsen (KIT), and includes outstanding national and international researchers: Dr. Martin Behringer, (OSRAM Opto Semiconductors), Prof. Dr. Oscar Dubon Jr. (UC Berkeley), Prof. Nicolas Grandjean, (EPFL), Dr. Michelle D. Johannes, (Center for Computational Materials Science, Naval Research Laboratory), Dr. Heike E. Riel, (IBM-Research), Prof. Dr. Werner Wegscheider, (ETH Zürich), Prof. Dr. Ursula Wurstbauer, (Westfälische Wilhelms Universität Münster), and Dr. Elke Arenholz, (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory). Each board member is appointed for a four-year term and may serve for a maximum of two consecutive terms.
